Multi Pitch Rock

Multi Pitch Rock :: Snowdonia and Lakes

The Snowdonia area of North Wales is perhaps the home of mountain rock climbing, with varied mountain crags and the sea cliffs of Anglesea a stones throw away. Multi Pitch climbing is, for many climbers, the true path: multiple pitches, bigger crags, longer days..

Multi-pitch rock climbing instruction, guiding and courses are generally held in the Snowdonia area of North Wales (or the Lake District).  Both areas have a variety of different rock types with a good distribution of both 'roadside' and high level mountain crags to make the most of your aspirations and the prevailing weather conditions. Again the varied geology of Britain's mountains could see you groveling up a big Ogwen crack, climbing bolted slate routes, or hanging onto a Quartzite sea cliff.

All rock climbing is arranged on a day to day basis, from one day through to two weeks maximum.  For full details check out the Booking & Prices page.  Below are some popular choices amongst previous clients:

Multi Pitch Rock:

An introduction to multi pitch climbing remains a popular choice for those of you who are keen to take the next step; multi pitch climbing on the UK's larger mountain crags.  Generally, you may already be familiar with single pitch climbing and are prepared for this some bigger routes. North Wales is an excellent choice with many rhyolite crags, well know for their excellent holds.

Duration: 2+ (2 and 5 days are a popular choice)

Sea Cliff:

A climbing trip on the UK's sea cliffs can be a daunting but very exciting and rewarding experience.  In the past clients have had experience of climbing up to Severe standard to get the most from a visit to the coast.

Duration: 2+

Self Rescue and Problem solving :

Recently, I have spent quite a lot of time covering self rescue and problem solving.  These skills are really useful if you are heading to more remote crags and would like to have the skills and confidence to deal with an emergency on the crag.

In the past I have aimed to develop the skills and confidence to deal with common problems and emergency situations on a multi pitch crag. This can be intensive and technical course but fun.

To achieve the most you should be happy leading and seconding independently at Severe standard.

Duration: 1+ (2 days is the most popular)

Quotes

I have just returned from a fantastic weekends climbing with James in Glen Coe, where i wanted to look at, and gain a feel on some of the slightly harder mixed winter climbs. During the weekend we climbed pitches of technical 6 & 7, which gave me a real insight to this kind of climbing.
I went on the weekend thinking i was fairly experienced, but the tips, tricks and efficiency I gained from James in the short space of a weekend was invaluable, and has given me the skills and confidence to climb that bit harder and that bit safer.
