Hill Walking with Handholds

What is Scrambling? Well if you have got this far you may know that Mountain Scrambling is the grey area between Hill Walking and Rock Climbing. In most cases you are unlikely to be sharing the way to the summit with lots of other folk, and you will have the opportunity to visit the terrain that everybody else avoids.

I offer a variety of Mountain Srambling instruction, guiding and courses; from the classic routes to roped and independant scrambling. This effectively covers Grades 1-3(S) if you are keen on the numbers. My aim is to help you to get the most from your days out on the hill relative to your aspirations.

Scrambling - Hill Walking with Handholds:

Scrambling - 'Hill Walking with Handholds' is aimed at those wanting to experience some new and exciting ways to the summit, covering the aspects of unroped scrambling combined with some excellent hill walking. As such you are likely to find yourself moving on classic Grade 1 ground e.g. North Ridge of Tryfan, Y Gribin, Crib Goch, Bristly Ridge etc.

Core skills that are likely to be covered include: Navigation, route choice, guidebook interpretation, safe movement, spotting and movement coaching.

Duration: 2+ days Location: North Wales or Lake District 

 

Ropework for Scrambling:

Ropework for Scrambling is aimed at experienced hill walkers and scramblers who wish to take the next step and use the rope to safeguard more technical scrambles. Operating on grade 2 and 3 scrambles the aim will be to cover the essential skills to move over technical ground in safety.

Core skills covered might include: Guidebook interpretation, route choice, equipment, runner placement, belays, belaying, and abseil retreat.

Duration: 2+ days  Location: North Wales
